OK, now I am through with it … and OMG did I expect too much! With all the success of the novels and the game and all the hype around the Witcher series, I expected big things. Oh man, was I disappointed! Of the 8 hours, I think 6 hours alone are just people talking. But it is not good storytelling. It is just bla bla and pretending. They keep telling what a great monster hunter the Witcher is, but (with tiny exceptions) we only see him walking around the country side looking important. Real adventures? Monsters? Only in minimal doses. I don’t want to offend any fan of the series, but I got bored after the very first scene with that multi-legged swamp monster (which looked kinda great). After that I had difficulties keeping my eyes open. Yet, the visual design is very good. Costumes, landscapes and buildings look great. But as for the storytelling: a pretty box with nothing inside. Compare this to The Mandalorian. OK, that is SciFi, but it is thrilling storytelling with nice characters you actually care for. With the Mandalorian I felt sorry when each episode came to an end. I wanted more. Not so with the Witcher. Each and every end was such a relief. Visuals and swordfighting are by far not enough to produce a convincing fantasy saga. I truly hope that you guys have had a better experience 😉
bang on target, spending on visuals , locations , costumes wont matter now a days, storytelling has to be top notch, Mandalorian proves that , you feel connected, you feel intrigued even though so much is predictable in it.
But for me witcher was a good watch which i ll forget in a day or two, i suspect i might not even remember this for a second season.

I dont think so , if there were more requests then may be i would have tried, but seems people are happy with x265 rips of tv shows
i binged the show last night with the 720p encode scorp did and here are my thoughts on the show. i have read the books and play the game even to this day so i know my witcher!
This is a not a 9.5 rated show by any rating scale u can measure it with. this is at best a mediocre 6.5 score show. although the original polish writer is working with them they have strayed so far from the books and tried to please the fans by setpieces which are even more mediocre. Story goes nowhere. timelines are obviously split. the supporting cast is cheap and this is what gets me bcz at one hand u can afford Henry Cavill and on the other hand u have such a bunch of grade b type actors its CHEAP. casting is badly done. Triss merrigold should be a readhead for gods sake yet they found the harry potter girl and she is a brunette!
Anya chalotra got a fine pair of tits but her story arc is cliched to the brim. dandelion is pointless, dragons were lame(not HBO)
Surprisingly i like ciri! i think that is a positive casting choice Freya allan works but again story goes nowhere.
Bottom line: if this was on CW or MTV i would not be surprised at all.

I have never read the books , but as an independent watcher , this has lods of room.
They are rushing like crap
but whatever it is , still a good watch

I have watched just the first episode and i can say its good , the action sequences especially the sword fights of Henry were awesome
The premise is okish but its been treated very nicely

Henry Caville is just out of the world , i would be hoping for a better casting after the first episode
Fans of books might find a lot of things disappointing , but as i havent read em , so i enjoyed it
