It seems that open_gop=1 besides ffdshow have Blu-ray compatible issue. Since x264 default is open_gop=0, for HEVC is open_gop=1 and as I read benefits are negligible, maybe to be safe for compatibility, 0 is better solution. Just sayin.
dont worry , software have been upgraded all over , just 1% cases are there where there could be incompatibility
if x265 is supported then x264 open gap shouldn’t pose and issue.
Some avisynth filtration scripts give good results with open gap.
but will keep in mind 🙂
